Hip pain after taking valsartan

Posted in Valsartan over 3 years ago, 2 replies

My Doctor has recently prescribed valsartan for my rather difficult to control high blood pressure. The drug works but I have developed rather severe hip, buttock and leg pain ---- bad enough that it stops me cold. This is not acceptable so I have simply quit taking the valsartan. I also take Lopressor and Norvasc (neither of which bothers me). I have checked out this medication and find that the above is a known side effect although it not mentioned on the side effect descriptions on the valsartan site. Any comments on this??

I have taken Diovan for some years. I am 75 years old and after taking it for several years, I have hip pain-due to beginning osteoporosis; leg pain - checked out well and it is due to arthritis in my lower spine. I have difficult to control blood pressure but valsartan has controlled it very well for years. Consider checking for other causes. Good luck HPN

Thanks, for your comments. I too developed hip pain and buttock pain after taking Valsartan. I did not think of it being a coorelation. My doctor told me I had possibly bursitis. Well!
